Hi, just bought a discovery 3 2.7 TD. Lovely car to drive, but has developed a random noise. When I turn right at speed at a roundabout for example, there is a grinding sound coming from the nearside front wheel, and it feels as if the ABS is crunching/ trying to pull the car to the left?
This just happens once in a blue moon. My daughter thinks it might be because I'm going around the roundabout too quickly, but I'm not convinced. I've just had new front brake pads fitted about a week ago, and will be replacing the back pads tomorrow, as they are worn too. If anybody can tell me what's causing this issue, I'd be grateful! Thanks

hi and welcome to the asylum

when u get out after a run are ur wheels hot as it might be a sticking caliper piston

did it do it before u fitted the new pads plse

id check wheel bearing on lhs

good call , also heard about the DSC sometimes causing the noise, ie from the steering wheel sensor , / mismatched tyres, inflation

but the dashboards DSC button would be flashing

or the inner cv joint

Hi, yes it did it before the new pads were fitted. Back pads being replaced tomorrow. Some suggested wheel alignment or tyre pressure could cause it?
I will ask them to have a quick look tomorrow.

The only warning light is the check brake pads one. The car was MOT'd three weeks ago, wouldn't they have picked up CV joint wear as an advsiory?

hi

as a side note , was the brake pad wear sensor lead replaced , there’s only 1 x fitted on the front and 1 x on the rear, think the front is the nearside and rear off side

assume the brake pad wear light has gone out or been reset, by any chance have u had it plugged into a diagnostics, inc live data of ur abs wheel speed sensors, as at least that’s the electronic side all tested

don’t forget for the EPB shoes to be checked and adjusted accordingly and the EPB module gears to be greased up

ref ur wheel bearings as it’s just been motd would have been covered , not sure about the CV joint , it that would be a knock if it was the cv and ur saying it’s like grabbing the wheel

plse let us know how u get on
