Grinding Noise on Startup

Hi All,

Everytime I turn on my 1998 Landy Freelander I hear a short grinding noise. It happens everytime it starts but only lasts for a split second. I have a feeling it might be the starter motor disengaging from the fly wheel, but has anyone else experienced this or knows how to adjust or fix?

WHat belts need to be checked and does anyone have instructions on how these can be changed / fixed?

I also hear a grind on startup..I can only hear the noise from inside the cabin, also if I place my foot on the brake pedal the grind noise stops but you can feel the vibration through the pedal. the book says you may hear a buzzing noise on statup from the ABS....what is the fix ????????

thats normal, no need to fix it. ABS modulator doing a self test
