Grinding noise from gearbox

Today I did à quick test with a hose in order to locate the grinding. Unfortunatly no luck. The sound is easy to hear inside the car but on the outside it drowns in all the noise from running engine.
I did however find one more clue. I have a pretty steep angeled slope as drive way. The noise at stand still is only there when parked facing the rear side of car at the lowest point i.e the most oil would be at the far end of the gearbox. On horizontal or front facing lowest point the sound is not there until loaded.

You said in an earlier post "oil seems fine". Have you checked the level? I just filled mine until it ran out of the fill hole. Then you start the engine, run through the gears and fill again whilst the engine is idling. I got another 2 litres or so in! Just a thought that it might not have enough oil in it if the correct fill procedure hasn't been observed...

Another thing that's worrying me it your use of the word grinding that is quite a strong defective word are you sure it's a grind ( intense). Or more like a rattle ???

Regarding the oil I had the car on a lift and refilled following the procedure you mention with but I only managed to fill like 4-5 liters before it started to come out at. But it has crossed my mind to try to do it again. I read somewhere it´s better having to little oil than the other way around as things can break then.

About the grinding, it´s perhaps not like a grinder at full speed against a metal bar. Maybe rattle is a better word to use. What is the task of the flexplate that is suggested to cause the rattling?

I have not been able to read the RAVE I downloaded yet because it´s in ISO format and my burning software is all over the place. Therefor I have not seen the sketch on how it all sits together.

its better to have the right oil , as long as the engine was running and its was dripping out that should Suffice. As for the flex plate its a bit long winded in short separate flex plate bolts through bottom and side bell housing inspection holes . Remove centre console and all cables and connectors plus oil cooler pipes remove box undo flex plate from fly wheel . But to be honest its hard to diagnose your better going to a Specialist and having it known for Certain, to make sure its not the t box chain for instance .

If it's a rattle, my bet would be the flex plate, do a search, there are a number of threads on the subject.

I'm affraid not due to lack of time, and spirit, I have not done anything. The car also runs well, every day, so I've just not got around to it.
