I was driving my TD4 today and just overtaking an annoying scooter (about 20mph flat out) when there was a pop sound (if thats right) and a cloud of GREY smoke appeared from behind engulfing said scooter (LOL
biggrin2.gif
) and the dash lite up and the engine died.

Could this be a faulty Mass airflow sensor? As i have had some problems with pulling power of late, ie, having to change down when going up hills from a slow speed.

Can any one help, have just spent a kings ransom on being recovered and replacing the 4 injectors

when there was a pop sound

'might' be an intercooler hose blown free where it connects to a pipe

~~~~
happened to me once .. thought it were a car backfiring .. or a gunshot ..
was the hose coming loose of the bottom intercooler pipe
had fitted new hoses 'n not tightened the retaining clip enough
( was accelerating uphill at the time )
Hello HD3 checked all pipes and ok.
Have done some more investigation and it appears that she might be overfuelling; perhaps the common rail pressure sensor is kaput as when turned over it jumps lumps along without starting.
need to find a cheap one of these now.....
the smoke is still grey, currently trying to find a way to home test the fuel pressure to the common rail, may be not getting enough fuel through. any one got any ideas for test?
