Does anybody know if the grill and head lamp trims on a 2002 P38 should be black or dark grey? I have looked at loads of pictures but I just can't determine what it should be, Some look grey and some look black.I want to revamp mine as the previous owner had colour coded the whole lot and it looks bloody awful.

regards

Dave

Think they were suposed to be black but a cheep plastic was used and after 10-15 years of weather damage they tend to fade
Bought mine 3 months ago and it had the faded gray grill
Ive since resprayed it black which looks loads better
Just make sure its preped and painted as plastic not normal metal paint

Mine are grey too :(

Much of the trim around doors, tailgate, handles and windscreen surround had turned a blotchy mix of faded grey and black too, but repeated cleaning and rubbing with 'back to black' has worked well on those areas. Quite a transformation!

I have concluded however that the bits under the headlamps and the bullbar are not going to restore so easily and thus removal and respray is going to be required... The pigment in the back to black seems to 'bead' much like water on a waxed surface and clearly won't absorb on that particular plastic. Not surprised on the bullbar as it's a durable, rubberised plastic (probably grey from the offset), but the bits under the headlamps seem more like the plastic used elsewhere.
