Hello to everyone,
I have recently returned to Kenya, and just bought a 110 HCPU, 25 years old, formally with the Kenya Wildlife Services - so it has seen quite a bit of action - the no longer flat surface of the loading area is a testimony to its use as intended. It was rebuilt and sold by a nice person here in Nairobi.
It has a 300 Tdi and auto box conversion at my request, from a Discovery I am told. Nairobi's traffic has become such that automatic transmission is a real plus.
Like all of us I love Land Rovers, and like some of us I have had several over the years; a couple of old Range Rovers and a Lightweight Series III; both my favourite Rovers.
But in today's Kenya petrol costs are no longer - personally - affordable.
I have always wanted an HCPU, and have received it two days ago. It goes well so far, with not too much rattle and shake. In town it is impractical, but to impose its mass in Nairobi's wild traffic and congestions. Out there on safaris, it will be a bliss to be able to easily transport all equipment required to camp in comfort.
Cheers,
ED
