Hello everyone.
40 years ago, my father and I bought a Land Rover Santana Series 2 that had left the factory of Linares, Jaén, Spain, in May 1959.
This unit was adjudged the army but was not delivered until 1962. Our protagonist was intended for Spanish colony Sidi Ifni in Africa, which was painted with a typical camouflage color "yellow sand".
For some strange reason this unit was "arrested" until the end of Spanish power in the colony. Our friend had to do very bad things to stay 7 years without working ...
After the shameful retreat of the Spaniards of Sidi Ifni in 1969, our Series 2 was painted green-NATO color and destined for an army unit in Valladolid, Spain. Everything suggests that it could start working at least, but NO!.
Due to the large bureaucracy and inefficiency existing in the Spanish administration, he continued to be under arrest.
Periodic checks, oil changes, leakage control, etc. were made, as if he were operating.
In 1976 the army made an auction to get rid of some of their machines. We find this Land Rover Series 2 practically brand new. Since then he has been a member of the family.
7 years ago I started a complete restoration of our friend, getting my father saw him finish just before his death.
Needless to say what I feel every time I see a Serie 2

Kind Regards
Agusti
