I come to you from over the page on the Range Rover part of the forum. Cutting a long story etc...
Our P38 (the Duchess) has been with us for about 6 years now but when our new Granddaughter arrived we discovered that neither the Rangie or SWMBO's Rav 4 had ISO fittings for the baby seat.
Something had to give and The P38 would be like selling a member of the family. Add that SWB, Auto, Ravs are in great demand and we were soon in the market for a replacement.
What to get when you already have a Land Rover? Another Land Rover of course!
The right mindset, ebay and a bottle of red produced a lead to an FL2 '10'plate, HSE Diesel. Not mint, but good serviceable condition, ready to respond well to some tlc. So far so good. Not quite the Aristocrat that is the P38, but a nice drive, 'specially that 6 speed gearbox. Biggest negative at present is the silly gadgets programmed into it. Worst being the infernal traffic reports that keep cutting into our radio entertainment.
Please, please, if anyone has a way of getting rid of them. please share it with me.
Greetings from the capital of Wales.

Yes. Turn them off on the audio system. It's call TA (Traffic Announcement), and has a button IIRC. ;) Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the audio system to hand just now to show you. But it's in the hand book.

Make sure you check the rear diff for noise, and service the rear diff, Haldex, PTU and gearbox, as they're always neglected, and fail as a result.

Thanks Nodge, The rear diff is nice and quiet. Convincing evidence of receipts for work done too, although more on an 'as and when' basis than to any proper service plan. I sorted the timing belt/water pump immediately as well as crank case breather. Haldex probably next week, then rest of the transmission in next session - maybe Easter time. The FL is to be the main family car now, the P38 becomes a proper rolling restoration to get it up to show standard.
