Hi all

Now the proud owner of a 1987 90 and dying to take it off road. Does anyone know if there are any events / pay to play locations in the vicinity of Edinburgh / Lothians / Borders area?

I don't know of immediately local pay to play but I do know of a few tracks/roads that will give you a taste of it in Midlothian/borders.

Drop me a PM if you like :)

There are a few but there pretty short there's also deer street but that's a summer road. There's also lamancha but be warned it's pretty extreme at this time of year . If you world like to do some Greenlaning In Northumberland send me a pm and I'll take you out for the day

Lamancha is a pay and play. Deer street starts down Jedburgh way and goes down to almost the border there's a few videos on YouTube the others I know of are dotted around east lothian but I don't know if there still legal to drive. I don't have maps for any tracks in scotland but I do for most of the north of England. Let me know if you fancy a day out there's some grate scenery and lanes

I know most of the East Lothian ones I reckon but I'll have a look at the Deer Street one. Don't know of it and can't think where it is either.

Cheers.

It's actually Dere street it's on the borders council website I think it's open to from April to October but don't quot me on that as I haven't done it although I do know the ruff route I'm planning on doing it next year

Finding a lot of conflicting information about this road. Some saying its fine up to the border, others saying its not allowed at all some say farm traffic only and photos of signs at the entrance saying no motor vehicles at all.

Hi Chris
Thanks for posting on this. I'm going to do the Fala Moor Road route today which Domino suggested. What are the East Lothian ones you mentioned? Northumberland sounds good too. I'll give you a shout in the new year and we could maybe get down there and you could show me the ropes. That would be much appreciated.

I have spoke to some local lads that I know from lamancha they say it's ok. I was also down over the summer and the signs at the south end said April to October

Iv never done the Fala moor road would you mind if a tag along
No bother. It sounds more of a farm track than anything technically challenging but I want to get out for a drive anyway. I live in Porty and leaving around 10.30. I'll pm you my number.

Should get some decent views up there today but as the cockenzie chimneys have gone, might take a while to get your bearings.

I'll give it a miss today (too lazy). Just watch out for the deep ruts before the first gate as you get on the track, the 'speed bumps' are bigger than they look and a few have ruts before and after which give you a hefty knock at any speed.

If I get off my lazy arse I might see you up there.. Enjoy :):

Welp, got off my lazy arse, didn't see yous at the pub..and the moor road is empty!

Ach well, having a wee bomb aboot masel like Norman naepals :D

The law is different in Scotland, and there are no green lanes of the type they have elsewhere in the UK.
I keep meaning to join this lot: http://scotgrc.co.uk/ run by Sandy Young of the SLROC I believe, who I met several times when I was a member years ago, and is a very nice man!
