Guys,

I know there is the online db of all the BOATS etc, and its overlaid on google maps, but has anybody done it onto a GPS for use in the Landy? Im thinking you can customise tom-tom and garmin overlays, so being able to map the different rights of ways should be possible. Not sure if you could mess with the menu system to add a field, like avoid motorways but proactively hit those lanes.

Any thoughts if its been seen before?

It can be done by plotting waypoints and using itinerary planning on older Tom toms. The newer ones don't support itinerary planning unfortunately.
This video shows you how

It can also be done using Viewranger and GPX files on a smart phone using OS maps. The GPX files can be plotted on the phone or downloaded from a PC. Viewranger also records your track which can then be exported as a GPX to share with others.

GPX is a common route/track plot file format.

I'd second the Ordinance Survey app. Only costs £1.99 for each map and you don't require a internet connection to use them so they work anywhere. Use on a tablet and you a decent sized GPS map.
