Well, I was driving down the M4 and noticed that my back windscreen was covered in liquid. I thought to myself, that's not right. Dry day and all. Found diesel running off chassis and further investigation found a pipe worn and p*****g diesel all over the place.
Went on web and found this to be a common fault on the disco 2.
Today the new pipe arrived. After removing the 3rd row of seats, trim and pulling the carpet up to access the diesel pump, the actual change was very straight forward. About 20mins in total excluding the trims etc.
All the info I could find tells you to drop tank and access the pipes.
I found no need for this. Undid the clip on the green pipe, removed the plastic lock clip and secured wire onto the old pipe. Undid the connection on the chassis at the other end of the pipe and pulled the pipe out. Made a sheath for the area that wears using a rubber tube split down the length and popped over the pipe. Cable tied to secure.
New pipe threaded around wires on top of tank and pushed into the clips. Finally pushed the pump end over tank and refitted the clip. Pushed into connector and hey presto.
