Got stuck now somthing does not feel right.

If your speedo is saying 60!? shouldnt that mean your actual speed is about 65?! defenders were never made to do those speeds...
last i checked my speedo always shows me doing 5mph under what im actually doing as for big wheels, tyres etc..

To be fair a standard Defender is stable enough to do 80-90mph without issues. The problems come with big tyres, lifted suspension, worn bushes etc. which encompasses a lot of "off-roader" type Defenders!

There is no standard 200tdi defender that will breach 85. If you push it that hard your asking for trouble. i once done 85 on the motorway downhill, it was screaming and my downpipe ripped off under the extreme stress i was putting it under. but thats just my opinion. maybe if it was factory fresh.

A standard speedo will over-read slightly. By law they are allowed to over-read up to 10% (I think) but not under-read. So manufacturers tend to err on the side of caution. Increasing the tyre size will often cause the speedo to under-read as you say, which can make speed cameras a bit more "fun"

He is. Put VM as his first choice, but it was full. So he goes with his second choice, Comms Systems Op in March. More sense than his old man or his uncle, we both went infantry. Still wants a Defender 90 for his first car, so something has rubbed off on him.
