I mentioned before that my dad passed away in March and left behind his very broken Mondeo, long story short been offered £150 for it and since the garage have kept it for us since January I'm just taking the money as credit on some work to be done to my Disco.

There's only three (hopefully) small jobs I can see needing done, the switch for the handbrake seems to work when it wants (light stays on or flashes), the footwell keeps filling with water and my bumper end caps are hanging down (easy fix with some aluminium plate).

Should I take the opportunity now to fit a decat pipe and egr blanking since they'll be in about and under the motor looking for this leak that I thought I had already fixed?

Or any other suggestions on jobs I'd be as well getting done while I have the chance?

Personally I wouldn't pay the garage for any of the jobs as they're all pretty minor jobs. Take the money and buy an EGR blanking/removal kit and a down pipe, you'll easily have some change. The other jobs are 'time' rather than money, why pay for labour that could easily exceed the £150 you have. :)

Nigel.

if they start looking under for the leak into the footwell id try another garage.... first place to look is leaking sunroof and then windscreen seals, bumper endcaps will probably be a few selftapping screws....handbrake light is probably a loose switch... but who cares whether it works or not.

They've had a preliminary look for the leak and so have I and there's nout obvious.

The bumper endcaps are hanging off cos where they mount to the wing has detached, I asked about this before and it's not a unique problem, one forum user fixed his with some aluminium plate.

Probably made it sound a bit simpler than it really was.
