Got my Van :) Couple of Q's

Well I collected the van on Sunday and all seems well, have been driving around the Island for the past few days and have got used to everything. As I am planning to potentially keep this vehicle for quite a long time I am trying to sort out all the little annoying bits to make everyday use easier.
I've been told I should learn to live with them as it's the Land Rover way of life but I figure they must be fixable so why not!

One of the first things I have noticed is that the indicators don't self-cancel but having done a search on here it sounds likely to be the tab or ring behind the wheel, I'll investigate further at the weekend.

Also the clock and the lights for the heater controls don't work, I assumed it would be a fuse but I didn't receive a handbook with the vehicle so I have no diagram! Therefore I checked all the fuses in the box under the steering column and they all seem fine. Has anyone any other ideas before I take the dash apart to check the bulbs?

Finally (for now!), when I lock the vehicle from the keyfob (thus arming the alarm) approx. 2-3 mins later the alarm sounds with the horn going and the indicators flashing. Does anyone know why this might be? I've checked that all the doors were shut properly but don't want to start checking sensors if there might be a simpler reason....

Firstly get your self a Haynes Service Manual for the disco all the basic DIY stuff is in there.
With your alarm, lock the vehicle with the key this will disable the ultrasonic sensor and or check the bonnet switch both of there items have been known to give probs

With the dash lamps it's all in the Haynes on how to replace the bulbs. Somewhere theres a thread on replacing the clock bulb.

Just done the bulbs. Pull the three round heater knobs off (Put them to a known setting to avoid having to remove them when you have refitted them 180' out) and remove the slider knob for fan speed control. There will be two screws that were hidden by the outer most knobs you removed so remove the screws and the heater facia will come off with a bit of wiggle but there are no clips securing it. The glass bulb pulls out of the socket and as the saying goes refitting is the reverse of removal:lol: . The clock can be removed by sliding a couple of credit round it to release the clips and then it slides out towards you. The bulb is removed by twisting anti clockwise but it is very tight and will come out with the black plastic bit still attached. If the clock bulb looks ok then your clock has got a gremlin in it like mine that refused to work even with a new bulb in it I soldered a new feed from the heater control light that was working and so far it still works :clap2: and before any budding electritians tell me my dash will catch fire I first checked that the power supply cable was capable of supplying two bulbs before I spured off of it.

Hey just looked at your profile and it says ocupation "Marine Engineer/Electrician" And you asking about light bulbs!!!! I know I wont be getting on a boat any time soon
