After some of the damage sustained at the weekend, I bought my self a bullbar from fleabay - got a built in steering guard too which is nice!

Aye I only dented the wing and put an indicator out. Nothing serious (especially compared to some!) Just wanted an excuse to bolt a massive piece of metal on the front of my car.... haha
Plus with the steering guard, one less thing to worry about buying...might have a go at breaking through the ice next time...! :D

Paid £90 - thought that was pretty reasonable.

think i'd be inclined to get a peice of heavy steel welded onto the steering gaurd tbh (making it a bit wider across the front) could get a piece of wood or (on the plains a bit of metal0 go through the gaps in that gaurd ;)

That's a good idea - I've got a metre square of stainless at home I could cut out and bolt on. At least I think it's stainless - it's been outside for months and has some rust on it so not entirely sure now.... :confused2:

I'm guessing it's fine but must be covered in mild steel particles from when it was cut out which is what's making it look nasty. Probably just needs a good buffing......

Now all you need is an oversize tow bar and you are well protected both ends.

Cheers for that, I'll have a look on there. We have a load of engineering supplies units around Andover. You used to be able to buy individual bolts and all sorts but now they have a £15 minimum purchase.

Went to go fit it on Sunday. I sized it up and I'm going to have the remove the number plate holder and the front valance. It was cold and wet so I decided to go back to bed..... My question, what do you normally do with the end caps after you remove the valance? They come down to the same level as the valance but are not attached - got any pictures of where I'd cut 'em off and what it should look like? I would take them off but I think it's only the end caps that is holding hte bumper in once piece! haha

there's a line so far down the end caps i just got a jigsaw and cut along that when i removed my valance and it might be worth checking with your insurance because i think unless its fitted as standard some insurance companys will say it invalidates your policy mate.

could still be stainless, if less than 316 grade it will show signs of rust if conditions are bad enough.

It's a genuine Land Rover one so guess that should be fine! I'm with 4x4 highway so they should be pretty understanding.

Paul, pics look good, that's what I had in mind. I'll just buzz off the bottoms like Short Round said. I'm terribly kack handed so any job that involves cutting needs careful planning or else I'll balls it up completely! haha

I like Bullbars / Nudge bars...me thinks all landrovers should have them fitted... Screw what europe want... something about them that makes other non land rover drivers move out the fecking way... lol

Done! Bought some new bolts from an engineering supplies shop and cut the end caps down with masonary cut off wheel on the old angle grinder.
