Hello happy new year to ye all. I've already gleaned loads of useful info from you guys so time to say a proper hello & many thanks for the sooperb site & a helpful bunch of members.
My story so far - I bought a 51 plate Disco 2 V8 (manual) in summer 2017 with grand plans to transplant the V8 into a Defender 90. The grand plan was for my long suffering missus (oh yes it was), who's fed up of crappy no-guts hatchbacks & loves Defenders to have something more than the average daily driver - so that's the excuse in place anyway.
Got the D2 off off ebay from a nice chap down south. Now for the confession - Driving "Bruce" home the 200-off miles back home, even in summer with no air-con (the start of my to-do list) I fell in love with him & couldn't bring myself to take him apart. Last December I put him in for MOT, thinking that the tester could condemn him & that would be my decision made, but no! only needed front ball joints, which I did & bingo - new MOT!
Now I'm really in a dilemma, cant get rid of Bruce cos I love him & cant take him apart - he does need some work to get him right (airbags this weekend thanks to a bargain new set from kevstar) including a HUMONGOUS collection of engine oil leaks, but as a previous MK2 escort owner, I'm no stranger to the old Waxoyl-while-you-drive courtesy of the engine - no wonder the chassis is ok. Also I should also declare some love for the TD5 - one of the best sounding wood-burners out there & plenty of performance potential - more dilemmas .
What's a boy to do?
All the best, P
