i thought she had different makes on one side but after checking there not,so if the bearing noise type rumble is not the tyres where do i look next, prop bearings and wheel bearings?,taking the car to stoke on trent tomorrow so i will be able to get a better feel for where the noise is coming from, got a 6 hour round trip

there's a good tyre thread on here somewhere

think we've gone through every tyre made, lol

personally I've got some bridgestones duelers on mine , very quiet on the road and good in the snow , never got stuck , yet

is the noise coming from the centre , not the clutch bearing I suppose

if it's coming from the centre , normally take the prop off to just see if the noise goes away as it doesn't cost anything and easy to drop them off

can drive fine in 2 wd but sometimes just helps u pin the noise down by taking the prop off if u can't quite hear where the noise is coming from

noise is from the rear i think,it sounds like a worn uj or bearing, rear prop off would solv a few issues and eliminate the suspects

Taking the prop off is a good way to try and isolate moans and groans that Freelanders make. Some times though if the noise stops it doesn't mean that is is the prop bearings UJs etc (ie something that you took off) - it can be that the diff's not under stress so its not making the sound any longer etc.

Word of caution with the Goodyear Wranglers. I had those on mine - but 195/80-15s. I replaced 2 then went to replace the other 2 after a reasonably short space of time to be told they are discontinued! So had to replace all 4 (even though 2 were nearly new) to another make.

I'm sure that was just here in NZ, but worthy of caution - they're not cheap tyres.

Duellers are always a good boot...nice and quiet.

must admit do like them

very quite on the motorway and the tc hardly came on in the snow

after i had all four fitted I got them four wheel laser aligned just to make sure everything was fine

haven't had them across grass yet so will be interesting to see what there like

will give the greenlaning trip at the lz event a good go and see how they perform

I used to love Goodyear wranglers in fact I had brought a new set about 2 months before I swapped for another freelander I had Michelins latitudes on this one after much arguing with Stratstones that the tyres on the car they sold me but it did not get me any where so had to fork out but given another chance I will go back to wranglers.

Same here on the Wranglers, but mine has 16" boots, and they don't make my favorite AW wranglers anymore on a 16. Its all Wrangler SUV now.

I wrote to goodyear asking why....but no answer was the stern reply. Have to admit though, they did get a bit "droney" after half worn.
