Took the decision this week to add some black cammo to the paint job. Ive been pondering the decision for the last few months and finally took the plunge. After using a marker pen to mark out where I wanted the black (done as per Army guidelines) I used some wet and dry to sand down the areas I wanted to paint black. I'm pretty happy with the result. The 110 still needs a decent spray at some point (and filling etc)..... this may be a while away so until then ill run the 110 like this and if I decide I like it ill paint it in this pattern after its had a full and better rub down all over. Also took the opportunity to paint the diesel cap yellow again.
Next on the list of things to do is get the hazmat kit fitted back in. I couldn't believe what a difference it makes to the noise inside when driving at motorway speeds!

Basically you need approx 1 3rd of the vehicle black. The idea is to disrupt the outline of the vehicle to make it harder to see at distance. So the corners should always be done. Ive painted a fair few tucks and land rovers in my time in the army and its fairly easy to spot one thats been done by a civvie who hasn't done their home work. And yes my black is done with 4 cans of satin black. My green is satin too.

There are no exact requirements for the type of disruptive pattern used, but must follow some general principles:

Units must not reproduce patterns exactly from vehicle to vehicle as this could identify their unit.
For maximum effectiveness at long ranges large bold patches should be used, in general only five to six areas are needed on a smaller vehicle. Little is to be gained from painting patterns on objects as small as a two-wheeled trailer.
Intricate patterns are not necessary, and bold rounded patterns without straight lines or angles should be applied.
Patterns should extend over corners and edges and disrupt the appearance of recognition features such as turrets and lockers. Areas of the vehicle that contain a shadow can give a characteristic appearance to the vehicle; these areas should be distorted by extending them with black paint.
Approximately two-thirds of each vehicle should be green and one third black, this gives the optimum protection at extreme ranges.
The black paint is only available as a brushing paint applied over the green. If the green/black boundaries are merged by the use of sprayed green paint there is a slight benefit at very short ranges, but this is not encouraged as brushing of black paint is considered to be quite adequate.

That looks better lol. As u know my 90 is also ex mod from withams. It is cameo colour. I will post my pic when I get back from holiday. I haven't done a thing yet When I do I will put a new post and link yours etc. maybe title same as yours but. With a twist. Goodbye disco 200 hello 90 project etc
Lol. I am gonna paint my 90 in brilliant red with black roof and new modular black wheels etc. then eventually drop my disco 200 tdi engine into the 90 etc.

What wheels on your ex mod ?? Are they 16x7 or 16x8 ?? And tyre size ?? I am gonna replace my ex mod tyres

They are 16x7 with 265 75 16 tyres and 30mm spacers

Thanks for the specs. I am confused. U still used spacers ?? I thought u only use spacers if it was a discovery wheel alloy ??

You don't need spacers. I just fitted some for a wider stance. They come past the arches ever so slightly but i've not had any problems with MOT.

Hi Lucifus,were did you get your wheel/tyre package from?what make are the wheels?...i fancy some for my 110 as i like the look of them.

I got them a few years ago from Silverline tyres. I don't know the make of the wheels. They are just cheap black modulars.

Lol u faker !! Now the picture is clearer spacers to make wheels stand out more. I Like the idea !!
