"Good news. After consulting user groups some time ago as part of the Definitive Map Modification Order process, Derbyshire County Council have investigated the history and other evidence for Trailwise UID SK2376-02 "Exelsior" (nearby to Jacob's Ladder) and have issued an Order to classify the route as a Byway Open to All Traffic.
Before we all get too excited, this is not the final milestone in the process - there will now be a period for objections to the Order. It's possible that our friends Patsy and Di will decide to object and force a review by PINS or even a public inquiry. If no objections are received DCC will confirm the order themselves later this year.
In the meantime, the lane is legal to drive but beware there is a large mature tree growing in the lane part way up, and wide vehicles may not fit (the tree will win)."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As I recall my old Disco 300 fitted, my Defender fits and a certain Disco with very wide wheels and spacers also fits ... but I don't know the exact size, sorry.
Anyway, Excelsior is open for now until P and D (see above) put their spanners in. Even then there will have to be a proper enquiry and whilst DCC agree it's a Byway, we've had the same situation before and it might potentially still close to the snowflakes.
But look on the bright side, it'sanother lane saved for a while, and a decent lane at that!
No time now, 'cos of work, but I'll post a location later ..
