Hi All, well finally after viewing a few 'sheds' i got myself a P38.. 1999 DSE with black leather and 164K miles...

happy with my purchase, and so have a couple of questions...

recommended Audio Head unit replacement ( the display on the factory unit is knackered...) works fine... and dont need anything flash ( i.e bluetooth / iPod etc ).. just a good sounding CD/ radio,, or something that will interface with the disc changer etc...

interior door pillars and Mankey, anyone tried recovering or spraying them ? ( was thinking maybe a sand and a black spray can )

then for future ref... anyone know which Grills etc can be used as a direct swap to upgrade the look ?.. also the black leather is obviously worn... has anyone tried the Repair kits available ? are they any good ?
or maybe i should look at a Professional retrim.. im near Huddersfield if anyone has recommendations...

known fault so far...
Passenger door dosent lock/unlock from remote.. ( any thoughts?).

have read posts on here about bad / blown relays causing havoc... is it worth just doing a Mass replace of them ? or of critical ones ?
if so which, and do you have a good source ?

You might find it easier to get the radio display fixed, swapping head units is not straight forward on some versions.
Relays are less of a problem than the fuse/relay box itself.

The radio can be a nightmare to swop if you have amps in the door plus the standerd is quite a good system maybe get a used one on ebay?
As for the door pillers there a good "how too" on retriming them in leather
And if every thing works i wouldent start messing with relays
Oh and welcome to the club you will soon find you have 2 new homes
On heer and under your car lol but its all worth if for those rare 5minutes when everything works and you can just enjoy the drive

Which radio do you have? Clarion or Alpine?

i think it is the Clarion sas1810... it's just the display.. and if i could get a new display i can repair it myself.. any ideas ? be happy to stick with the Hu if i can actually see what its doing..

Also not sure i have the EKA code... what format is it in ? i have the radio code.....

The EKA will be four digits in length and is entered via the drivers door lock....

Take your V5 and driving licence to the local dealer and they should give it to you. 99.9% free service.

Ahhh ok. Just asking because I have an alpine hu for sale.

I replaced mine with a cheap radio CD player from halfords and it was a straigh plug and play just needed an aerial converter plug I have th original radio cassette player if you are intrested.

hey Ovalandrover, if its the same HU as mine i could well be.. even if it's not working.. i just need the LCD and i can fix mine.....
