Im going to take my Disco to Morocco at Christmas. I have a few questions. I have new grabber att2 18" tyres will these be suitable? I have been looking at racks and roof tents and was considering Brownchurch rack and roooftent anyone got any expererience with these? Any advice with tyres racks and tents much appreciated and any other advice would be really appreciated.

Because it's beautiful, fascinating and really foreign.

Well, that's why I went anyway.

Reddisco - We went with a throw-in-the-air tent from Decathlon, about 70 euros, worked brilliantly and DOESN'T affect your fuel consumption like a roofrack does!! PM me if you want to know more.

Cheers

Tell us more, were you mainly off roading, or did you spend any time in the cities too? Had a mate go there a couple of years back & from what he said it sounds like an awesome place! :)

Thanks biglad wish id thought of that tent option but my disco has just been fitted out today with an extended rack and rooftent. Wasnt cheap! but looks like good bit of kit! Getting tyres in the morning then its going for a full service and thorough inspection.

Hiya Muddy, we did about 7200kms in all, that included getting from central France down to southern Spain & back (nearly 4000kms!!).

Much of what we did in Morocco was on-road, partially because it was my first big trip and partially because I wanted to see lots of the country.

However, there were some VERY notable exceptions when we were more off-road than an off-road thing on off-road day in an off-roader.

The Sahara Desert at Erg Chebbi and the Dunes, magnificant - the Todhra & Dades Gorges superb, with the piste between them washed-out due to flooding. That was off-planet mate, never mind off-road!!!!

We also had time in a number of cities.

I will be posting a complete report in the next few days including facts, prices, pictures & places - hope you find it interesting.

Cheers
Dave

18" tyres are probably not the ideal choice for expedition work, but in view of where you are going and for length of time will probably work out ok
better choice would be something like 16 " BFG AT , or if you are looking at going further in the near future BFG MT . JMHO :)
