glowing

can any one advise me my exhaust is glowin red at the top when you look down just before manifold and the car is juggering and dont seem to be fireing properly any ideas please its a............. 18i gs thanks 2001

Sounds like you've got a serious afterburn into the exhaust manifold. I'd suggest at the least to check the timing belt hasn't slipped. If all is well there then get the alarms out the ECU first to make sure there isn't a sensor error (is the ECU warning light on?). If that shows nothing then I'm thinking the exhaust valve on one pot has either burnt or cracked or something nasty like that. The only way to know is to get the head off and all will be revealed.

I think what p38gav was typing is that your catalytic converter is knackered.I personally have no idea.
