Hi All

I have a strange starting issue that has just started

When I turn on the ignition the glow plug light flashes at about the same pace as an indicator. If I start the engine while the glow plug light is flashing the TC, ABS and HDC light remain on, but Freelander starts no problem. If I turn the engine off and restart it then glow plug light comes on as normal and when started the TC, ABS and HDC lights go off as normal.

I have checked the battery and there does not seem to any loose connections and battery is fully charged

Any suggestions on what could be causing the problem?

Andy

There isn't a glow plug relay in the traditional sense. The TD4 uses a glow plug control module, which is under the inlet manifold, bolted to the block.

I suspect this fault is some kind of data error on the CAN.

There is a relay for the glow plugs. But I believe it's a kind of master isolation relay. The glow plugs are powered by a control module, as I understand it.

I can't see how the ABS lights and glow lights are connected, as their signals are derived from different sources. The glow light is under EDC control and the ABS/HDC lights are under ABS module control. The only common link is on the CAN or the Ipack.

I Think You are correct mate I looked again at engine bay diagram and it just says Fuse link FL6 Glow plug Relay but then doesn't show one in the relays so bit misleading.
