hi, thanks for the suggestion, not sure its a way i'd like to go, but a great way to test if it works - ill see if im handy enough to give it a go.

i'm still hoping to work out where the problem is so it works nomally - new plugs, new relay and all other dash lights work.

Hi is it possible your glow plug ECU has some how gone faulty......from memory your glow plug light fails to come on at all..........testing the glow plug circuit would certainly prove the sharp end..............keep us posted

Hi when I replaced the glow plug relay in the large L shaped elec box under bonnet .....there appeared to be a large bundle of wires going into some sort of
localised ecu.......I assumed this was prabably the glow plug ecu..........

Just as an sside my car has just started developing a fault ..... when damp and very cold in the morning I get a buzzing main relay...........when this happens the glow plug light fails to work properly........... I think I have an earthing problem under the bonnet somewhere...........I have seen one earthing point near the battery tray........is there one under the control boxes???? Have you seen anything........... Maybee you have a kinda related issue but a little worse.....

Earth points are in RAVE - AFAIK the main earth point is connected to the engine block / gearbox (follow the negative lead from the battery under the earthing tray and further on).

I'm not aware of any earthing points under the e-box / fuses...might be mistaken though.

I spoke to a Land Rover dealer in the UK to get some advice about my glow plugs - the technician suggested there are two temperature sensors on the car, the ECT one to the ECU, and another one for the fans / temp guage - although i can't find this mentioned in RAVE - so might try changing the ECT sensor :)
