Hi all, I fit a new rocker cover gasket to my defender 300 last night in the dark by torch light, could not sleep had to do it! however this morning when I started her up the glow plug dash light stayed on?????

Any body got any suggestions, ideas, solutions

Much appreciated

pull the timer/relay that's attached to the inner dash panel out and see if the light goes out

they fail

When you say inner dash panel, do you mean the one behind the gear stick held on with 2 big round plastic screws

Cheers

If it's in the same place as the 200tdi, then it'll be in the engine bay screwed to the bulkhead. Follow the wires from yer glow plugs until ye see where the wire from them goes to.

Ye can just see it pokin' out behind the fuel filter in this photie...

it's the wee black box.

mine is fooked (old 87 90) got a replacement just not looking forward to the swap

Ah know how ye feel mate.. but after doin' it, it didnae seem too bad. My main worry was the wirin', but ah just marked everything off on some tape around the connectors and it was fine;) The only other thing was makin' some mods as it was a new td5 one goin' ontae a 91 Def;):D

A wee tip fur ye Bucky... if ye're goin' to paint it the same colour as yer motor, slap plenty seam sealer 'round all the joints etc, let it dry, mask off all the wee holes, turn it upside down, pour plenty o' zinc rich primer in it, give it a good swirl about, drain, when dry fill it wi' some paint, repeat as per primer and leave it tae dry;)

Sorted it, I had accidentally turned the rear heater switch on, that was the light that was staying on  I have got a lot to learn :D
