Hi all,i have a 2001 30th Anniversary .My glove box has come away from it's lowering strut and so drops nearly to the floor.I can see where and how it would fit back on but when i try the gap left for my hand to put the nut/screws back on is not enough ??? Is there a way of doing this or do i have to take the lower part of the glove box off all together. It looks a very easy job just no damn room for your hand ? Anyone ever had to replace the strut and how ???

upper or lower end?, get help from a small handed:D:D:D

The lower part that drops down.its the part of the strut that screws/bolts to the glove box (door).Screws to the inside back by a small square bracket snd 2 screw/bolts .just can't fit my hand inside the box as it has to be nearly closed for it to fit in place?

loosen off lower part of glove box 4 screws, fit strut, reassemble:) can't remember if you need the upper foot well bit off first.

are the screws still in the back of the glove box because the captive nuts on mine had pulled out and I had to take the box out and put longer bolts in and nuts on the inside of the box.also the hydraulic action of the strut had packed up but i can live with it not self closing.

Mine did not self close.Had here 8 years now so i would think someone in her first 4 years of life must had put a new one in that does not self close? All the screws/bolts are there just that the bracket that joins to the lower part of the box(the door) has come off and when its lined up with the holes for the screws the gap is to small to fit your hand in :(
If i try to do it the other way ,ie take the strut off ,fix it to the door and then try to fix the strut to the side(where the hole is ) Again no room for your hand to fit
