Glous Lanes = Tossers abound >:(

Hey peeps, I just wanna get something off my chest.
I've been a BIG Green Laner for years, and took a 3year time-out recently due to excessive politics.

I came back to it recently, cos i missed it so much, and found the vast majority of people the same dedicated, sensible group I knew and loved.

HOWEVER - I led a good friend around today in his new 90, around the Glous area - up the Fosse Way and the surrounding graded lanes - a really nice day in all, checking their condition, and updating my lists.


In 4 places, I came across "off byway" damage by "Local" ****-wits who see the need to find alternative routes... look at this damage on the laneside passing through the Ravensroot woods...... and further up, too...the byway is to the left. Most of theese rutts were 4-5ft deep !





And along the Fosse Way, near Foxley Grove where there is a clear, defined byway indicator, and the OS clearly shows an OVER RIVER CROSSING the ****ing tossers see fit to chew up the riverbank and surrounding bridge support area....to do some wading....the Byway to this quagmire is to the Left, well posted and mapped.

The pricks I had a go at today said to me " well, everyone drives it"
I pointed to the council concrete blockade pods they'd dragged out of the way, and they just shrugged. I told them they'd caused more problems in high water conditions, and the shrugged.
Funnily, the ****ed off when i took pics of them driving it .

Iremember this area being a contentious zone years and years ago, however, this is FAR FAR worse. It'll soon be undriveable.




So to all you ****ING MORONS out there who see fit to **** things up for the TRUE laners - go drop off a cliff.... PLEASE >:/
E-mail sent to local Byways officers.

The problem is - They will TRO it and guess what? The local ****wits will still go down there and rag it whilst legitimate users suffer

We had to stop for the Hunt.....nearly 30 horse, 2 quads, 15 hounds....they were a REALLY nice bunch of peeps




We did hit one lane - and decided to give it a miss - it's at that point of nearly undriveable....and no, i won't give a grid ref. But if anyone finds my shoe, i'd appreciate it back !

That is just plain suicidal - but dint blame us T O S S E R S - we aint been out laning for a year or so .

Post the pics of em, preferably showing number plates, and post on every forum you can.

The Fosse isn't far from me and we used to drive it often. In the 3 years I have been laning that area by the river has become unrecognisable, I to have had words with 4x4's in that area. We used to stop by the river for lunch, now there is no point

It's a Dell SX260, running a regulated, modified power supply and my (insanely expensive) Lilliput 8" touchscreen, Seperate 2ch Amp, and an external HDD that i keep it all on.

Software:
XP embedded, Memorymap V5, Bletooth, DSP, Modified RoadRunner Software (for all my Music), loads of other stuff.

It's all tucked inside a sealed Box with a detatachable snorkel for wading

Sounds nice. I was considering something similar, but haven't got a suitable screen, a definitely not a touch screen.

If you want a nice quiet drive in beautifull scenery, go laning.

If you want to get your Landie plastered in mud, pay £20 and go to a Pay & Play site.


Simples.

Yer, we and they all know this, but their tight **** ers. Minety, Compton Bassett and Foxham are all in very close proximity but they just wont spend the money each month. or they ruin the lanes in between P&P days.

Dirty Rhino, why do you (& others) feel it necessary to publicise the fact that there are ****s out there tearing up our green lanes. We all know it happens but posting a full write up with pics to go with it showing what damage fellow 4x4 users have caused is just taking us one step closer to green laning being banned.
Incase you forgot anyone can look at this forum not just 4x4 fans.
Then you top it all off & inform the byways officer , he'll just shut the whole lane without too much thought! Isnt that what were all trying to avoid??

You too are a moron!! I didnt say everyone that hunts is a toff but lets be real, most people who fox hunt are toffs!!
If a fox was killed on the road that would be an ACCIDENT in 99.9% of cases where as when a fox are killed in a hunt they are usually ripped to bits by the hounds ON PURPOSE.

let's address some of your "points" shall we ?

I couldn't care less WHO looks at the forum..... i'm well aware of who can or can't see what is posted.....do yo think that people againts the sport don't register in other "closed" forums or clubs?
Why even make a blindingly obvious statement such as yours ?

By NOT reporting lanes being trashed they will Not get the chance to recover and be properly maintained, or TRO'd for the required length of time. If a lane or byway is abused by pillocks, then there is every right for the council to close it. Now, if you got totally stuck on a lane, or someone couldn't be rescued or helped in time due to poor maintainence, who would you blame? the idiot who did the damage, or the local authority who didn't maintain it ?

The age of "break it, someone else will fix it" is long gone - I think it's time you, and a select few realized this, and started working WITH byways officers.

I'd assume your someone who is happy to let things lie as long as it doesn't affect you, but complains the second something happens that is detrimental to your way of life ?

Are you going to go and have a pop at GLASS members, too ?


As for the "toffs" comment - congratulations - you just made yourself look like an utter plank !
