Hey everyone,

Ive been looking for buy a discovery for a few months now and have finially decided to go through with it. The only problem I am having is that I don't have a clue what to look out for price wise and car wise! Which is not good.

I can afford to spend a max of 10k (preferably a lot less than that), which included a part ex or sale of my current car (which I have been offered 2.4k for). All the discovery's I have seen around me are in the 120k - 150k mileage range, which I feel is just too high for me. I am after a diesel manual preferably, although I saw a petrol auto today which only have 23k miles on the clock for £7995 which I was tempted by.

So, any tips you guys can give me to look out for on any cars I see? I have been going round used car dealerships/looking through every used car magazine and website I can looking for a disco that would suit me, but I am just nervous to spend my money since I am not 100% sure what to look out for.

Thanks in advance.

do a search on here - theres a million threads about buying disco's, what to look out for and so on.

£2k can get you a 300tdi auto with under 100,000 miles, leather, cruise control, leccy seats, air con and little or no rust as the bad bits have already been done. with £10k sounds like you want summat alot newer tho, sorry cant help you with that as disco's lose their appeal to me after the TD5

Here's an example of what can be purchsed if you are patient, learn about Disco's and have your cash ready, to pounce on a good deal:

2002 Disco TD5 auto ES Premium, 2 owners, 94,000mls, leather and ALL the trimmings including compass in the rear-view mirror!!

Complete with Brownchurch roofrack (1000euros!!)

And how much was the purchase price you ask?...............................................£2,000 !!!!!!

Thats a nice looking disco. Ive just found a couple of discos to check out near me for less than 3k and the photos looks promising, and one is on 80k miles. Hopefully it wont be a rust bucket when i get to see it.
