Just gone to change thermostat and fecking jubile clip has gone tits up ,I'm in the middle of nowhere (obviously at home),why is it the simplest thing can cause the biggest headache.anyone else had similar misshaps

mine all seem to rust solid, and even if they don't I cant be arsed faffing about wiggling them off and on and buggering up screw heads or screwdrivers if its a particularly gnarly hose clip so I fetch the feckers off with an angle grinder. Then realise I havn't got any spare. Only I do this every time...

Jubilee clips are the bane of my life

I find a 7mm socket is normally the safest way tightening/loosening them ,this one had just seemed to leave a suicide note

I never use a screw driver. Although I've now changed all my coolant hose clips to these bad boys:

T-bolt W2 stainless clamps

A bit of tying wire on the pipe . A bit of clothes hanger with a bit of rubber between the wire and the pipe .

edit : just as a temporary bodge job fix of course .

I wuz gonna say that... never had one of them seize, even the non-stainless ones are a huge improvement on the old jubilee clip.
on jubilees mines usually the nip it up a bit...bugger the threads gone.

always carry decient cable ties,
gets you outta all sorts of ****e!

jubbly clip gone titts up,
2 cable ties all doit fer now,
even if you need to leave rad cap/tank a bit loose.

ask you friendly BT man "if" he has any going spare.

the big black 13mm wide ones hold my splash guard on to my chassis,
tight!
smaller white ones hold my lighting relays onto the lip on my rad panel/slam panel.

best invention known to man..cable ties...
