Have a browse through these before you read and shout if you see an upside down or wrong bracket somewhere.
I've spent about eight hours on getting the engine and gearboxes into The Lightweight chassis, and I'm not happy with the result, the whole thing is rigid.
The problem started at the front, where I had to lengthen the slot in the RHS .engine bracket to and take 4mm off the top of the flexi stud to have any chance of getting the engine down onto the mounts.
This is the rhs with the extra slot
While on the lhs, it was hard over
Having achieved that it left me with this problem at the gearbox, left
And right
Where the studs were about 20mm too far back from the centreline of the removable cross-member.
So I took off the mount plates and drilled new holes.
Which should have made it fit. Well, it did, but the amount of force that I had to use to get the gearboxes across to the right was borderline ridiculous.
I haven't tightened up any of the flexi mounts yet, but the unit is rigid, and I suspect that the transmitted noise and vibration will be horrendous.
But at the minute, this is how it's sitting at the right hand front.
And back left
This is with no tension in the hoist or on any jacks.
What's happened?
