I recently bought a 3.9 vogue SE soft dash that's in need
of some restoration and wondered if there is somewhere selling
genuine LR parts or can anyone recommend other sources to buy
from.

I have all the floor panels, sills etc sorted i think but i'm also looking
for brake calipers, suspension air bags, suspension bushes etc

Thanks
Dunk

Have you tried Landrover?

Yes there are copies,

Yes Genuine LR parts cost a fortune,

If you want your money to go further, look for people that are breaking their RR's

You will find though that sometimes aftermarket parts are much better then LR parts available, the brakes and suspension parts you will find while LR parts are around, your probably better off getting well made copies

Hopefully that helps,

If he wants genuine but without the price tag he is better off going for OEM.;)

Thanks for the replies guys, so you can still buy genuine calipers and airbags from LR, i'd not even
considered calling them but will do to get an idea on cost.

If not from LR where else, most calipers i've found are very cheap and i have my doubts
that they're any good.

I only want to fit new parts really, anything off a breaker is already very old so no point
in using it on my restoration project as i want to do it right first time round

Look for OEM parts (Original Equipment Manufacturer). It's the same part as landrover use just doesn't come in a landrover box.;)

I just called my local LR dealer and got these prices, this is full retail
though without any discount

Brake calipers front ------ £253.84 each
Brake calipers rear ------ -£184.64 each
Discs front --------------£118.44 pair
Discs rear ---------------£127.22 pair
Air bags front-------------£422.78 pair
Air bags rear -------------£414.38 pair
Air bag compressor -------£312.51

TOTAL ------------------£2478.12 inc vat

Front calipers and compressor are no longer available and i can get 10% off the
retail price

We've used a mixture of OEM/LR/Unknown parts over 5 years on our Discovery 2.

Our findings are that things like second-tier supplier brake discs are fine as long as you use a branded brake pad. 5 years out of our front discs and Mintex pads, 60K miles.

Filters we always buy genuine LR.

Brake pipes etc we buy one of the Euro-branded makes on ebay, quality is very good and no issues at all.

Calipers ditto, although many are unbranded. A new set of rears have been on for 20k miles with no problems, Mintex pads and unbranded discs again.

Seals we buy genuine.

U/J's we buy branded, GKN or whatever. Some 'Blue Box' stuff (not necessarily Britpart) has been a bit questionable as to fitment and assembly, but have had them changed by the supplier.

Britpart clutch assy turned out to be Genuine AP inside the box, so no problems there.

Sometimes you just have to go into the unknown as nobody else does the bits you want.
