I'm still trying to find a decent Discovery 300tdi pre 1997, and have looked at about 15 different ones to date - so far nothing worth buying.:(

Without exception, not one of the owners knew if the hi-low and difflock worked properly, and only one had any idea what the "little stick at the front" does!

Is this really the state of things.....

I wouldn't be put off looking at a shopping trolley, chances are they get 'put in' for servicing and haven't been trashed off-road pulling 5 tonne farm trailers.

You could always get a hefty discount for not having looked after transfer box..........

Unfortunately it's people like that that meant I don't have difflock on my early TD5 - too confusing on the 900yard journey to the school gates and back :D

I have to admit the most mine does at the mo is the school run shopping etc, but was bought because I love um and have wanted one for YEARS.., and I could afford to buy one outright and not have to be ripped off with credit ... as I have been with most of my other vehicles... Also I feel secure and safe and feel my family are safe also..

We are starting to go camping this year so what better..?? (£200 as opposed to £600, to stay in a static, also I can upsticks and away to go wherever I please.. Loads of freedom to explore and not limited by tarmac...)

PS

I did know what the diff lock was for and checked it before buying, was a little stiff but it worked, although the seller did admit to it not getting used...

I'm sure it's a false sense of security Murkster: I don't think they come anywhere near the top of the list for safety and security.... maybe you should buy a Hummer :)

poss nip over to mochras so you can buy me a pint?

Not going camping until July, St Ives Cornwall looking forward to it, not sure how it will be with 3 children in tow and the missus.. :D always had a static/room before...

Prices have forced the tent though.... saving £400 over a static..!!!
