General advice needed when buying a disco

Hi folks, new on the site but said hello a few weeks ago. my aim is to get a disco by the end of July to replace my company car which goes mid august. Having read and read and read every article i can find i have decided on a budget of up to £8k and am going for a c2002 2.5TDI ES auto.

i know its a general question and will generate a multitude of answers (i hope) from different angles and pov's, but i am looking for any advice you are willing to share about buying a disco. Are there any particular traits or issues i should look out for when buying.

I have read that the self levelling suspension can be problematical, is that a major issue.

Whilst slower and thirstier is the autobox reliable one

Most of my driving will be to work and back on the motorway so i wont be personalising it much but are things like TD5 alives power boosts worth investing in

I will be looking with a vengeance shortly and wouldnt mind dropping a few questions your way as they crop up.

you might struggle to find a 2002 TDi as they stopped selling em in the UK in 98. when they introduced the TD5 engined discovery..

Doh, doesnt say much for my attention span does it, thanks for correcting me, i did mean TD5, havent seen ANY 2002 models that mention TDI so dont know what i was thinking about !!!
