P38A Gearstick position

How do I adjust the position of my gearstick? At the moment 1st and 3rd seem to close together as it won't change down from 3rd to 2nd. The gearstick when at rest is in the 1st 2nd position and not 3rd 4th if that makes sense.

theres 2 balls with springs as can be seen in your pic that are adjustable from either side of housing

So do I just turn one side in til it's in the middle James ?

they are often tight and like one of yours broken, the one in the lhs of your pic the ball pushed through the end of the adjuster

That's from the welding albatros. A bit like alien blood but its **** welds metal rather than dissolves it.

Mine did the same as the one on the right, I managed to get it out of the housing and hammered the end back over to hold the ball back in place.

Well I couldn't find a replacement at the time, and I forget to mention i also replaced the spring inside which was rusted out with a stainless one out of an old toilet syphon
