so the PO replaced footwell a and floor panels...and used 12000 tubes of silicon to seal the floor panels.

my question: does the gearbox tunnel sit on top of floor panels or do floor panels sit on lip of gearbox tunnel?

I was gonna take tunnel out to put a remote breather on hole in gearbox disc but it now looks like another big job to sort cause the floor panels are silicones on top of gearbox tunnel.

 rant over

Floor panels on top .
Isn't gear box breather hole in small plate with two screws in which is accessible from middle seat? above reverse stop on earlier boxes ie back of selector shaft plate.
Edit:- Thinking about it again there is a hole in the disc but would it not be better to fit breather to the plate mentioned
Edit again just found a photo with seat box in place and even that plate needs the tunnel removed

yep cheers Blackburn but the tunnel has to come off either way as you say

I wonder if I can get access to the disc with a hole in via the bung on passenger side of tunnel? thoughts?

trying to achieve this:

The flange thing gets bolted to the bulkhead first, then the main tunnel is bolted on top of that and the floor panels go on top. (took me a while to figure that out as I forgot how I took it off :) )

The groove in the space under the cover for reverse adjuster looks to vent the transfer case not the main gearbox.

might just leave my breathers as this then if the gearbox can breath through transfer box?

I think you misunderstood my last comment the transfer case has a groove in its case down the back of gearbox but I believe it is sealed at base by rear bearing carrier from the gearbox , so you will still need to vent the gearbox.
Will have a look a some gearbox parts tomorrow to see if it would vent from selector shaft rear to cover.

ah apologies I see where you are coming from now!

I might be able to get at the gearbox top cover from middle seat without removing tunnel.

I'll keep ya posted thank you
