gearbox td5

hi i have a 2000 model td5 which has 80000 on the clock the problem i have is when i engage 2nd gear it feels very notchy and you can almost feel the gears engaging but for some reason once the gearbox has warmed up its no longer a problem and is fault free can any body help me on this subject
