I have a 2004 range rover l322 auto td6
I have had a local garage change the engine leaving the gearbox in place. having replaced the engine the gearbox seems to be over filled with fluid (without any topping up) as it is running out of the level hole either with or without the engine running but the big problem is it has lost all drive .
this box was rebuilt about 7000 miles ago and was driving up till engine problem.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Level is checked with engine running, at a specific temp (40degC) and after going through the gears and into Neutral.

Get a garage who knows what they are doing and DO NOT turn the engine off before putting the level/filler plug back in.

Assuming the problem manifested immediately then it's a common problem & I'm surprised a garage got it wrong.
The torque converter must be seated on the box to the correct depth so it engages with the pump in the box before either fitting the box to the engine or the engine to the box.
If it isn't it the box will bolt up to the engine but will damage the gearbox pump. No pump = no fluid pressure = no drive.
