Hi guys, I have a few questions if you could help.
Me land rover 90 has a 200tdi conversion so what gearbox/ transfer box will this have (reverse gear next to 1st) the reason I ask is I have a rather bad clonk when changing gears, I have checked propshaft and a frame ball joint seems to be ok( not jacked up to check though)when under vehicle it seems like the vehicle moves a few inches before prop turns then massive clonk, I had an issue with handbrake being stuck on a few weeks back, I thought I had addressed this problem but now have a leak from hand brake drum, so I fear I may have a problem with transfer box, any suggestions, I am looking at getting a second hand transfer box but need to know which one, I think it's an lt77/lt230 but unsure thanks for any help in advance perry

It might be a worn output shaft, in which case its a gearbox fault, you need to remove the PTO cover and have a look.
What suffix is the g'box serial number?

also have a look at this thread where i pulled the gear out my transfer box to check the shafts.

its easy to do, would be worth fitting either an oil feed plate or drilled gears (both available from ashcrofts transmissions) if your gear box shaft is in good condition

also check your diff output flanges are done up to the correct torque, one of mine wasnt and it made a big difference tightening it up

It is drive train shunt you are getting isnt it?
You just need to check over the drive train and see what not right, lift a wheel off the ground and have a play.
