Hi lads & lasses.

I have just pulled into the car park at work & there's an oil drip from the gearbox that wasn't there previously.
I had the steering box changed last week & asked him to check the oil levels while it was up on the lift,I suspect there wont be a plug in the filler when I get under it to check.
If I am lying under the truck with my bonce towards the engine where will the filler plug be/should be?

Any help appreciated chaps & chapesses.

Keith.

TD5 51' plate manual.

Can't remember 100% but its a Torq T45 socket on the left of the box, quite high up, around the middle of it. TD5 will have an R380 manual gearbox.

I have heard from the garage & they tell me they didn't check the gearbox.......:-(

I'll have a looksee tonight.

thanks Paul.

Keith

The filler plug is a Torx 55, it is on driver's side, about 10-15 cm from the bottom of the gearbox, you can check it with your fingers.

Looks like it might be a false alarm

I found a coolant leak which I'm hoping washed back over the gearbox while travelling back from the girlfriends, higher motorway speeds rather than pootling about locally.
The hot water is flushing old oil off the engine/gearbox.
I am going to clean it all tomorrow & check again, couldn't find the filler because every time I touched anything I got soaked in oil/water crap.....:(

It's got the clips that you squeeze together on the coolant pipe that's leaking,is it normal practise to bin these for jubillee clips?

Thanks for the help.

Keith
