Gearbox noise.....

Hey,

I went off-roading last weekend, and few days later i noticed that my gearbox was making a strange noise...

It runs and sounds normal in 1st and 2nd but soon as i go into 3rd, 4th and 5th from 25mph its makes a loud vibrating humming noise.

Could this be a lack of oil in the gearbox or is the Gbox broke??? I am not sure

any suggestions an answer apprtiated

Check the easy stuff first, like your prop u/j's, wheel nuts, wheel brgs etc before ya start worryin bout fooked boxes.

Had the same happen to me a while ago n it turned out to be the u/js couldnt go over 65 cos i thought the transmission was gonna fall out.....

Erm it might be an idea to check that you do have oil in the box mate; as well as all the above listed,

oh yes, and check very carefully for Foxes!!!

id say prop UJ's, almost certainly.

Check them all for play, with the hand brake off. SHouldn't be any.

Boydy - you rebuilt that LT77 yet?

erm.... no...

have been busy - if i get some time over easter its on the cards, while im landy less due to a respray.

Ill be taking lotsa piccied though so its well worth the wait
