Hi all,
here i am again with another issue with my defender 57 plate...

After driving the 30odd miles home today i notice my 'engine' making a clanking noise (not the best description i admit) as i parked up. i then noticed that i could make it dissappear by depressing the clutch. releasing the clutch noise comes back and add infinitum.

SO, anyone want to hazard a guess as to what this is?
Is it serious? i Guess it needs to go back to the dealership.

Never thought i would say this, but getting right royal fcuked off with this now, the vehicle is just over 2 years old and has had soo many problems, its shocking. i really dont think i would buy another Land Rover. If it carries on after warranty is up i will have to part with it 'cos theres no way i can afford the bills i'd have to pay. Pfffffff

Clutch release bearing

Ah, yes in my red rage i forgot to mention the last work done was a replacement of the clutch. Guess its a knock on of that then?
Clutch was replaced 1000miles ago or so

how many miles has it done? Having a clutch replaced within 3 years is pretty bad unless you've put 200k on it or something? Either that, or you sit slipping the clutch in near stationary traffic for 2 hours every day :)

35k :(

and no, i dont try to do that with the clutch for 2hours, usually just an hour and half, never two..... no, of course, no clutch slipping ever if can be helped.

Well, started vehicle this morning, and noise wasn't there.
So drove the 30miles to work, parking up with engine idling, sure enough the knocking is back.
Quick call to Land Rover Assistance, AA man shows up in the hour and he whips it off to Roger Young.

Diagnosis: Needs new gearbox!!
arrrrrrrrrrrgh

gearboox on back order from land rover, i get the 90 back until then.
The vehicle will effectively have been rebuilt by the time the warranty is up. Its 'rap sheet' is very impressive.........
