Gear levers keep rattling

I might be being petty, but I've had a few landys now and they all seem to have a distingtive noise at the base of the gear levers (sounds like a rattle or tapping after about 30 mph). My first thoughts are to put some heavy duty rubber in between the gear levers but I think that would effect the gear changing - do you agree? I would be interested in anyone else experiences of this and if you have done anything to stop it...would be nice to know that it's not just me.

yer gets a landy, yer gets a rattle. It's like buy-one-get-one-free at the supermarket. If you shut one up, another one starts. Get some headphones or an iPLod or something!

just used ta drive with me foot against it

On long trips i push my jumper or coat in between the two gear levers. There must be a better way.

stick yer coat down it , works a treat or a cardboard tube cut off and stuffed down, like oddy said its a buy one get one free, guaranteed

Be nice to have a clue which Landy ...

My Series always rattled, my Disco doesn't unless it's telling me summat's wrong ...

lift off the rubber gaitor and tighten up the two pronged bias spring underneath. Make sure it is still biased correctly (between 3rd and 4th) but it should be possible to stop it rattling.

Worked for me! Rattle no more.

Only the other 99 to fix now...

ave got one of them rattles from my handbreak lever annoing as feck

The rattle that annoys me most is from the passenger seat ...

I'm glad to hear its not just me then. I know you've got to expect a bit of rough with these machines. Squeaks and rattles in the cab is like having a dripping tap on my forehead.

I've got the morning off tomorrow and if you hear about a madman bouncing on his landy it will more than likely be me
