I'm trying to tighten the gear knob on my 04 Td4, it just keeps turning on the gear stick.
I've have lifted the gear stick gaiter up and expected to then just screw the gear knob tighter on the gearstick as is the process on a YouTube video. However, on raising the gaiter over the gear knob I have found a chrome collar type fitting below the gear knob and it is just turning with the gear knob. I thought it was just like a locking nut to hold the gear knob tight but no such luck, the collar doesn't turn on its own. Anyone one got an answer to this problem?
