Disco 2 gear change problem

Recently developed a problem with changing gear became very vague especially down gear from 5th to 3rd it struggled going in and on start up you couldn't put it in reverse with handbrake on. It was in garage yesterday having new suspension put on. Mechanic had a look and told me gear lever selector housing was bent and a piece had broke off. He couldn't remember if the selector housing from a 300tdi gearbox would fit a td5. Cheers

Thanks for reply I ended up losing reverse gear while engine was running can only get it when I turn engine off so it goes garage on monday.
