Hi All

I have used the suggeted Dr Tranny shudder fix and it has taken some of the shudder out.
Question this time is do I use it again to try and improve things even more or is this as good as its likely to get.
Kickdown thump is still there but I intend to follow Bembles advice on solving that problem.
Many Thank for the advice already given

The oil was fine as it had only been changed along with the filter 4 weeks approx before adding Dr Trannys magic mix. Since adding the anti shudder mix the vehicle has behaved well except for when you go for an overtake and kick down then there is a very loud thump.

Sorry to hijack the thread, attempted to do a service on my TD6 box today and cant get at the filler plug to loosen.
Do you guys remove the prop ?
Can for confirm its a 17mm filler plug, or is it in AF as its a GM box?

Cheers.

Not sure what size it is for sure but I know when I first serviced my TD6 GM gearbox I made the major mistake of draining the oil before checking the filler plug would undo !!!

Fecking thing was seized right up ! So had a gearbox with no oil and no way of using the car !

Took 2 hours of hammer, spanners, chisels and blowtorch to remove the thing!

Thing is it's in an hard to get place as it's next to the prop shaft. Just made things even harder.

Had to buy a new filler plug as it was mangled when I finally got it off.

Good luck mate

I'm glad I'm not missing something then Ellis! Mine is pretty seized, but I can confirm I did try undoing the filler prior to draining it..... One of my better decisions !!

Can you confirm it was in metric though? My plug is starting to mangle with 12 point ring spanners.
6 pointers only from now on, looks like removing the prop and getting a socket on is the way forward now then.

Why an oil filler plug is so tight is way beyond me...... on the plus side, the sump plug came off much easier!! :D

Cheers bud.... See this space...!!!!
