Gear Box / transferbox Question

My brother has a 1994 300tdi discovery manual with a R380 gear box,
his question is can the transferbox be removed without taking the gear box off ???

The reason for this is his hand brake is u/s oil seal seeping,
has changed the seal but think the seal been scored so even with new seal oil still seeping out,

can any one else suggest solution to hand brake problem ????

looking to replace transfer box to resove issue, but reluctant to drop gear box as he says might as well change clutch if he has to go that far to resolve problem.

any/ all ideas welcome someone else may have had the same/ similar problems.

yes it can, but why?
replace the rear oil seal and flange. clean all the handbrake and make sure the drain hole is clear. Tis easy.

he has tryed this, replaced them
even tried gasket sealer to try to stop the leak,
but still no joy !!!

when he strips and clean it all out the handbrake works for a few days then does the same again. cant stop the leak.

even changed cable etc still no joy.
are there other ways to adjust the cable/shoes etc?
may be missing some thing really silly....!!

cable? shoes? wots that gotta do with the leak?

if it is still leaking it is, most likely rear bearing.

just trying to say he's tried every thing he can think off,
can this bearing be changed in situe?
he asked me to list this problem for more ideas as he's run out of ideas.

we are still novices when tinkering with these , looking for your words of wisdome as you guys helped me no end with my last disco years ago.
