hi all anyone changed there gear box oil it says it should be done at 96k mine about to get to that looks a bit of a bugger of a job to do wiwith out a lift how much would a garge charge to do this and is there ant point in dhaving it done many thanks

I drained and refilled both the gearbox and IRD oils last weekend. ( 75K miles )
I used a lift belonging to a friend as I also replaced the Cat on the exhaust.
I'd say that the gearbox in particular would be awkward ( but doable) to do using axle stands and a trolley jack as you will have to get it up on four stands to get the level and then , if using a standard plastic container , it has to be positioned up behind the block behind the strut/hub to get the oil in .
Inevitably the oil will spill over floor and your arm.....!
I drained, refilled and checked both in >30 mins so it's certainly not a time consuming job.
I'd suggest that you remove the undertray yourself and then ask a known independant garage to do it and see what they quote.
Let me know if you need socket sizes and oil type/ quantities.

is it a manual or auto?
autos are prospectively a bugger to do, coz yu can screw up the gear box. landy sheet in Q's and A's

Oils are inexpensive and it can only be a benefit .No differance in gearchange as it was good before but I'm a great believer in changing fluids regularly on all our cars and vans .
I did them 25K miles ago .

mtf 94 or equivalent, use a small funnel and a long piece of tubing to refill in the bonnet area, easier than trying to squirt/squeeze oil uphill.

If you get a litre bottles of gear oil you can stick a length of hose on the spout to reach the filler /level hole ,
Then poke a hole in the base of the bottle to allow air in and the oil will drain on its own
while you go and have a brew

Cremator - I hope it aint an Auto box - coz if yu undo the wrong bolt, yu can screw it up completely.
