Hi All,
Just looking for some friendly advise.
My garage took my gearbox out on my td5 2002 and replaced the synchro mesh after experiencing glitching whilst changing gears. The first time it came backno better so the garage took it out again and sent it back to the gearbox centre, who said it was their mistake and the parts were faulty. The second time it came back it was much better but I am still getting a slight glitch going intosecond gear, but this only happens when the engine is cold, as soon as landy tempgauge gets to middle the glitching stops and it’s all lovely. Could it be and oil or clutch fluid issue with expansion? Would appreciate some thoughts from youexperts!!

Hi James,
Thanks for replying, as a mechanic carried out the job for me I don’t know what he put in?
synchros work on tapers and friction, wear in the synchro ring ./baulk ring as is very common with an r380 has an effect as can oil ie not braking the gear so its speed is matched to the shaft, new baulk rings as youve had fitted presumably, can vary in quality and some are very poor ,yours isnt fixed yet by the sounds of it unless its the wrong oil,its not necessarily the rebuilders fault though their responsibility as who can tell if new parts will work properly until used for real

Most helpful thanks.I’ll chase up the garage to find out what oil is in there, can you recommend what sort it should be James?
I would have hoped that a specialist gear box centre, having it in twice would have made sure all the parts were good, it probably is more likely to be the smaller garage who put it back in, just chucking any old oil he had back in it
