Have a problem when changing gear sometimes. Some times the disco goes into gear no problem, other times it takes abit of effort and you can feel the change aswell as hear it, sometimes it can also take a couple attempts putting clutch pedal to floor to get in gear.

Most problems are changing from first to second, and third to fourth. Sometimes it goes straight into fourth other times its straight back and alittle to right to get it in.

I've also noticed the reverse light goes on just before I put it into reverse, once in reverse light goes off..

Previous owner told me he changed clutch before, can't remember if done thrust baring... He also said he changed a pin in gearbox? Said the switch for reverse is worn

Once again, any ideas/help is appreciated.

it could be 2 things ,clutch not clearing fully ,worn baulk rings or both, an oil change using mtf94 may improve gear change if just baulk rings, reverse light is not the switch but the yoke on end of selector shaft theres a ramp for switch which wears , it could be filled with weld and ground smooth or fit a new yoke

i havnt changed the oil yet, sometimes its ok and sometimes its not, can be a pain to get out of gear sometimes.

am now thinking its the thrust baring, am sure can hear it sometimes

any members in scotland able to take this for a spin and give me thoughts on this, i am in dalkeith about 10 miles south on edinburgh, no problem driving to you

ok will head to halfrauds today

how many litres does the gear box hold, where the level check on these?

i need to order haynes manual, everytime am about to, something else needs £ spent on it

spoke to previous owner, he said he changed the cylinder, doesnt think he done it right, might need bled again? another option to try

But the mtf94 is ok to use and is better than just plain old ATF in the LT77 even if the baulk rings are coated?

wouldnt know i only use atf as baulk rings were designed for such , and they dont suffer baulk ring wear usually or lack of lube issues if serviced regularly

Fair enough, I changed the oil last year, and am going to do it again next week, ATF is easy to get hold of and cheap, just wondered if mtf94 would do magical things to my gearbox thats all.

the above was confusing lol, i have a different gear box?, mines can also use atf?

is it possible to bleed the clutch like the old skool brake method, one pumps pedal, another opens/closes bleed nipple?

Yep, you can bleed from the nipple on the slave cylinder if someone pumps the pedal and keeps the fluid topped up.
