Ok so when i bought my disco the gas cap door locker thing didnt work. when i push the button i hear the gears working but there is no lock inside. like it fell out or got pushed in. how do i replace this?

if ur fuel cap has a lock on it that one will do it as it comes with a keep but if ur fuel cap has no lock on it and is electric u'll need to prise it open and have a look if the worst comes u'll need to get a locking cap if u could post a picyure that might help

Is it electric or a key open door? if it opens by a key then the one I showed you should work. but I can look up some stuff and see what I can come up with

Its an electric. theres a button on my dash that is suppost to unlock it but theres nothing to unlock because it fell out.

Noy quite getting the jist of this but here goes to get to fuel filler solenoid you will have to remove offside rear lower quarter panel,i believe you have to take the seat belt inertia reel out of the way and there you will find the solenoid, where the solenoid comes out into filler flap area should be a grommit in the body work the solenoids do tend to fall apart, the flap is held shut by a small plastic u shaped clip which the end of the solenoid sits in,you can get this part, when you press the button the solenoid retracts opening flap if it wont open use a credit card down the slot at the rear this normally works, there is a rubber buffer on the front of the flap this causes the flap to jump open is this enough info or am i right off base.

oh boy, alot of work.. Will the key lock thing made for the discovery I series work on the II series? If so ill just install that.

Hi i cant why it wont work or just put a magnet behind the flap to hold it closed, yes it is a lot of work for something so simple, good news is that disco 2s are difficult to syphon fuel out of good luck and happy landings

ok thanks for everything, ill just put a magnet behind it. i dont really care about locking it if its hard to steal gas out of.

Dear Tigapiglet / all,

Can you maybe explain in a bit more detail how to remove the panel in order to see the solenoid: i have also a LR Disco II and have the same problem.

Many thanks,

Mike
